At the time he was working with a German Circus trying to get on its feet after the war and took me to performances. I was hooked. Later in New York he introduced me to Emmett Kelly the clown and I met Tex Ritter as well. Barbette inspired me to study foreign films which he loved. When I moved to Austin he would show up once in awhile and take me to see a Felini or some such. A great person to have known. My father was instrumental in helping him to walk again.
